About Me

My photo
I currently study and live in Birmingham and am in my second year of university, undertaking a degree in media and communication. I used to blog (about fashion, style, clothes etc.) but for various reasons stopped. However, I now find myself at a point where I have more developed and informed opinions on an array of different things, including the fashion industry. This blog is not going to be photos of outfits and clothes, but my view on a multitude of topics surrounding the fashion industry. Fashion is something that I love but as media undergraduate I want to write articles that avoid the wishy washy adoration so commonly reflected in fashion blogs and magazines. It's interesting to look a little further and dig a littler deeper.

pleats

top: h&m, skirt: zara, blazer: not sure, wedges: newlook
An outfit post, just like I promised. This is not my usual look, its more tailored and girly. But having said that I do really like the whole combination of the pleats with the blazer.

I'm back

Hello all. Sorry for the absence of blog posts over the past week, I have been in Devon staying with my family. It was absolutely lovely and I enjoyed every minute of it. The weather was brilliant as well, which meant lots of days spent on the beach eating ice cream. I do have a slight tan as well! On the Tuesday I went shopping in Exeter and came back with quite a few items that I'm very pleased with. I will hopefully get round to doing some outfit posts with these clothes soon.
1. cotton high waisted shorts £7.99 H&M
2. pleated skirt £15.99 Zara
3. cotton cardigan £9.99 H&M
4. nude vest £4.99 H&M
5/6. lace top £8 Primark
7. floral print bra £7 Primark
9. floral wire headband £4.99 Newlook
(I had already worn the shorts and cardigan before I took the photos so thats why they look creased and misshapen)

Coachella style

So, it's Coachella this weekend and I have to say that I am extremely jealous of everyone who is there this weekend. It is definitely on my list of to-do's. I thought it would be fitting to do a Coachella fashion inspiration post. Enjoy.

I just love festival fashion, it's always so carefree and effortless. Festival fashion does slightly vary here in Britain though, but only as a result of the weather. Lets face it, it is the only time that wearing wellie boots and denim shorts together is acceptable, but very chic I must say. Over at Coachella the weather is definitely not a problem, hence why there is an abundance of sandals and suede boots. I would definitely go with a good old pair of converse though, as I would want to protect my toes from being stood on. Out of all the photos here the last one has to be my favourite purely because of the amazing feathered headdresses, not forgetting the wonderful flowing maxi dresses.

there ain't no romance around there

Just a quick outfit post from earlier today. I pinned my hair hair up into a bun and wrapped a head scarf round my head. I thought it looked quite nice actually, as I don't usually like having all my hair out of my face, so it's a very different look for me. As for the outfit, I know its not very exciting as those shorts are my go-to item so I wear them a lot. It's just easy to pair them with a baggy rock tee and some boots for that effortless look.

I can speak without somebody else operating me

I absolutely love Miley Cyrus. There I said it. I know over the past year or so there has been a lot of controversy about her music and the way she presents herself, but in my personal opinion I think she has the right to do what she likes now. She is no longer a Disney star, admittedly Hannah Montana is still shown on Disney channel but she no longer films any new episodes. She is 18 years old and deserves to express herself the way she likes, who can blame her for wanting to shake off the Disney look? So what if she wears denim shorts? I wear denim shorts just as short, if not shorter, than her and i am a year or so younger than her. It is completely normal for girls her age to dress like that, so why can't she, just because she is famous doesn't mean she hasn't got the right to dress that way. I do realise that she does sometimes wear quite revealing outfits, but never out on the street, they are always her stage outfits. The whole point of stage outfits is do something different and dress up in a way that you would never normally do day-to-day. There are plenty of other female singers/performers who wear much riskier outfits on stage, yet they don't get as harshly criticized. I know they are a few years older, but still isn't a good enough excuse. It is all taking the attention away from the fact that she is an extremely talented singer and actress, and I am sure she has a lot of great things a head of her. Lets focus on the positives for a change.

shopping list of sorts

Just a few things that I'm lusting over from Topshop. I think I will definitely order the purple/pink tie die tights and the aztec print top. I think its the sunny weather getting me in the mood for summer. It was 20 degrees today! A tan is very much needed, as my legs are white as snow at the moment, then theres the case of the 'bikini body' a diet is needed. I'm just so excited for summer, words cannot describe it. I've already got a number of BBQs lined up already, one of them being for my birthday in May, 17 at last and I cannot wait to drive.

as a falling star fell

Last Friday afternoon I 'modeled' in some photos for my friend Lily, as she was doing an art project and needed someone with long wavy hair. This is one of my favorites, not completely sure why, but it just stood out to me. It was extremely windy and rather cold, and was quite difficult to stop the dress making me look pregnant. It was really fun though, and I discovered why I would make such a rubbish model. There's not much else to say really, life is a bit run-of-the-mill at the moment. Break up from sixth form on Friday though, which is always good!

essentials

So I did go shopping this weekend! But don't get too excited, it was only for essentials, so no new clothes to show you all I'm afraid. I did buy a new shampoo that I've never come across before though, it's called Scandalous big & beautiful volumising shampoo. Its not the usual kind of shampoo I'd buy, but it was on special offer so I thought why not treat myself. It's also quite a big bottle so it should hopefully last quite a while too. Whilst I was in Superdrug I couldn't resist looking at the makeup section, and I was immediately drawn to the bright blue, glittery, Barry M nail paint. I love, love, love glitter so had to put it in the basket.

While I was in town I went into Lush and asked about what cleanser would be best for my skin and came away with a sample of herbalism. I have to say this now, it absolutely stinks! I hope it works though, because my skin has been really bad over the past few months and just keeps getting worse. Fingers crossed.

OK, so I couldn't go out to the shops and just buy essentials. I went to Newlook (where they had completely re-done the whole store since my last visit) and fell in love with these black espadrille wedges. They are a canvas material with a buckle strap round the ankle, I think they are perfect for the summer months but also suitable for wearing when I go out in the evenings. I can't stop wearing them round the house, just need some summer weather now.
