About Me

My photo
I currently study and live in Birmingham and am in my second year of university, undertaking a degree in media and communication. I used to blog (about fashion, style, clothes etc.) but for various reasons stopped. However, I now find myself at a point where I have more developed and informed opinions on an array of different things, including the fashion industry. This blog is not going to be photos of outfits and clothes, but my view on a multitude of topics surrounding the fashion industry. Fashion is something that I love but as media undergraduate I want to write articles that avoid the wishy washy adoration so commonly reflected in fashion blogs and magazines. It's interesting to look a little further and dig a littler deeper.

easily found

This past week has been rather busy! Firstly I have had to do lots of work for art which involved starting a new project and finishing off another (I still haven't finished what I was meant to). I also had to take Bonzo to the vets which was a bit of hassle, but I won't go into that. Then Friday my friends had a joint 18th party, Saturday I had work, then on Sunday I went shopping. So I have got lots of goodies to show you from my trip.

H&M - Blue Jumper £14.99, burnt orange/red shirt £9.99, skirt £3.99
Forever 21 - check shirt £16.75, necklace £3.90
Topshop - Bruce t-shirt £22, black leather brogues £30
I sort of went a bit mad and spent quite a bit of money, but it isn't something I do very often so I will forgive myself for parting with most of my money. I wanted some new pieces just to spruce up my wardrobe as I felt a bit uninspired with the clothes I have at the moment. I think now is a lovely time to go shopping as all the stores have just put out their autumn stock. I partly went shopping just to check the new Forever 21 store on Oxford Street, and I must say that it is amazing! It is super big and is decorated beautifully, I know a few people have said that the clothes aren't that great but I really liked the selection they had there. So, if you haven't been already, go check out the new Forever 21.

decisions, decisions

As you can see from the photo I have done a spot of shopping over the weekend. My holiday is three weeks today (yippee!) so I thought I better get some summery attire and so on. As well as these shops I also went to Superdrug, Boots and M&S but didn't need their bags because I already had quite a few. I really hate using plastic bags if I already have one from the previous shop, just seems pointless to have loads when you could only have a few. Anyway, I didn't really have enough time this evening to do a big haul post, and I'm not completely sure if you guys like them or not, so I thought I'd wait a while.

give me a second go

As you can see from all the photos, I have been shopping. This was my second attempt at birthday shopping because, as some of you might already know, the first didn't go according to plan. I must say that this was a very successful trip. It was a truly lovely day spent with one of my best friends. We actually arrived early to Topshop and had to wait outside for the doors to open, something that I'm not quite used to as I don't usually go to Oxford Street on a Sunday. It was quite weird wondering around in Topshop with barely anyone there but was much easier to look around, even though it didn't last very long. I finally bought the sandals I'd been eyeing up since easter from Topshop, in case any of you are wondering they are available on the website in a multitude of colours. I love the simplicity of them and how soft the straps are. I do really love all the delicately embroidered sandals on the market right now but I tend to wear my sandals everywhere in the summer so that type of sandal wouldn't be appropriate. They were only £22 which I think is really good for Topshop and quite cheap in comparison to other sandals I have seen.
Next I managed to get my hands on one of the bikinis I have been lusting over from H&M. I was going to order it from their online store but thought I'd wait considering I was going shopping. So glad I did because I tried it on and had to get a bigger size than I would have ordered online. I think black bikinis go wonderfully with a tan and this style is a safe one to go for especially if you're going on holiday and want a dip in the pool. What I love about this black bikini is that it has the little tassels and gold skull beads, it adds to the bikini making it a little bit more edgy. The price was what I expected a bikini to be, the top was £9.99 and the bottoms were £7.99.
Then lastly I bought a shirt from Bershka that I found on one of the discount rails, the sign said they were £15 but the label said it was £9.99 which was a bit of a bonus. When I bought it I thought it was black but when I put it on in daylight at home it was a really dark navy. Its quite a sheer shirt but not overly sheer so you don't have to wear a top underneath it. I got it to replace my mum's silk shirt that she let me borrow as I didn't want to damage it because its really delicate and irreplaceable because it was bought from a boutique 10 years ago. This shirt isn't silk, as you can tell by the price, but it is a really lovely soft material that certainly feels very similar to silk, just less smooth. Sorry about poor quality photo, it's quite difficult to take photos of black things when there's lots of bright light. I have just finished filming a video on how I'm going to wear which should give you a better idea of what it looks like, so look out for that in the next couple of days.

I'm back

Hello all. Sorry for the absence of blog posts over the past week, I have been in Devon staying with my family. It was absolutely lovely and I enjoyed every minute of it. The weather was brilliant as well, which meant lots of days spent on the beach eating ice cream. I do have a slight tan as well! On the Tuesday I went shopping in Exeter and came back with quite a few items that I'm very pleased with. I will hopefully get round to doing some outfit posts with these clothes soon.
1. cotton high waisted shorts £7.99 H&M
2. pleated skirt £15.99 Zara
3. cotton cardigan £9.99 H&M
4. nude vest £4.99 H&M
5/6. lace top £8 Primark
7. floral print bra £7 Primark
9. floral wire headband £4.99 Newlook
(I had already worn the shorts and cardigan before I took the photos so thats why they look creased and misshapen)

shopping list of sorts

Just a few things that I'm lusting over from Topshop. I think I will definitely order the purple/pink tie die tights and the aztec print top. I think its the sunny weather getting me in the mood for summer. It was 20 degrees today! A tan is very much needed, as my legs are white as snow at the moment, then theres the case of the 'bikini body' a diet is needed. I'm just so excited for summer, words cannot describe it. I've already got a number of BBQs lined up already, one of them being for my birthday in May, 17 at last and I cannot wait to drive.

essentials

So I did go shopping this weekend! But don't get too excited, it was only for essentials, so no new clothes to show you all I'm afraid. I did buy a new shampoo that I've never come across before though, it's called Scandalous big & beautiful volumising shampoo. Its not the usual kind of shampoo I'd buy, but it was on special offer so I thought why not treat myself. It's also quite a big bottle so it should hopefully last quite a while too. Whilst I was in Superdrug I couldn't resist looking at the makeup section, and I was immediately drawn to the bright blue, glittery, Barry M nail paint. I love, love, love glitter so had to put it in the basket.

While I was in town I went into Lush and asked about what cleanser would be best for my skin and came away with a sample of herbalism. I have to say this now, it absolutely stinks! I hope it works though, because my skin has been really bad over the past few months and just keeps getting worse. Fingers crossed.

OK, so I couldn't go out to the shops and just buy essentials. I went to Newlook (where they had completely re-done the whole store since my last visit) and fell in love with these black espadrille wedges. They are a canvas material with a buckle strap round the ankle, I think they are perfect for the summer months but also suitable for wearing when I go out in the evenings. I can't stop wearing them round the house, just need some summer weather now.

tired and uninspired

I have decided that I am in serious need of a shopping trip, I look in my wardrobe every morning and am just totally uninspired. I usually look forward to choosing my outfit for the day, but recently its been a chore to find something to wear. Even when I do put something together it just never feels right and I want to change all day. I do however have a number of shopping trips lined up but they are quite a while away. The first is Camden with Meg in the easter holidays, the 2nd is when I go to visit my family in Exmouth/Exeter and the 3rd being my birthday shopping in may. Just need to get some money together now.

These are the main items that I am lusting over from h&m at the moment, especially the moccasins and the dark burgundy bikini. Hopefully the bikini will come back in stock in my size soon

happy days

This weekend has been pretty darn good, on Friday night I went round my friend Bex's new house for a party. I ended up staying over with a couple of other people and I must admit it was funny looking at all the photos from the night the before together. I got home took a quick shower and headed out again to a mates house for the afternoon, which was also very lovely. Then on Sunday me and my mum went out to town to get some stuff and I ended up spending quite a bit of money.
1. two door cinema club album from the HMV sale
2.primark boots (i might return these, but haven't made up my mind yet)
3/4. peter pan collar floral dress in the sale from newlook. I tried this on a few months ago but didn't have the money to buy it so I was delighted when I found it in the sale.
5. black primark cami top, calvin klein pants and a Rene Rofe bra
6. dream mat mouse foundation which I tried for the first time on Friday night and fell in love with it. Colour FX blue temporary hair dye to use on the ends of my hair

almost forgot, this is the video of photos from Friday night, feel free to watch

a long time coming

I've been meaning to upload what I've bought recently but just haven't got round to takings photos of it all. So here is my half hearted attempt at photographing it all (not very well I admit). Its just a few bits and pieces I've picked up on various outings.
